Wĩrute Rũthiomi is a blend two of kikuyu words meaning “to learn” (Wĩrute) and ” language” (rũthiomi). Airing every Tuesday 8:00 PM EAT, this program offers viewers a fun and engaging way to sharpen their kikuyu language skills. “Mũtonyi” , which means a knowledgeable kikuyu teacher, plays a key role in the show by guiding our viewers on the pronunciation, vocabulary, and cultural insights of the topic being discussed.
Before each episode, the presenter and mũtonyi collaborate with the producer to research and select the most interactive and audience-preferred topics. Once the topic is finalised the presenter proceeds to ground-level interaction with the audience in the streets, market etc to gauge their knowledge of the chosen topic which are then incorporated in the show and analysed. Wĩrute rũthiomi has successfully found its way into many households both in Kenya and the diaspora and has helped countless individuals sharpen their kikuyu language skills.
